No. All I wanted was a date, the proper date for my business partner's wedding. Not a random lady who aimed to escort me, or imagined me as her boyfriend.
Not a relationship.
No strings.
No games.
Not even sex.
"But there are many investors out there, Sir. They can be seduced and you will get the contract," Helena taught. But she was completely wrong.
"You don't get me," I answered, my mind traveled back to the years where I was young.
Jakarta, 1996.
I was nothing. We moved out from London to Jakarta because my parents' marriage was strongly disapproved by Dad's parents. Who the hell married an Indonesian housemaid, they said. I could see Dad's sadness throughout the years. His every little effort to finance the family was paid by a laugh, most of the time. Dad ran from a company to another company, brought his envelope with all of the identity he owned inside. Sometimes he went back with nothing, some other time he brought along some news. Not all the news were good, anyways. But it was better than nothing, right?
But he never stopped.
The way his existence was considered as nothing liven up the flame. He needed seven years to finally have a settled position in a company.
One day, Dad asked me to join his office hour. He moved like the machine inside the body was made with no stop button. He argued in the meetings, his idea was rejected. But I pointed out the same thing, he never stopped.
We waited for the train on our back home. We sat down on the stairs, watching fellow passengers came and went away. I asked him.
"Aren't you tired, Dad?"
"For?", he answered.
"Working."
"Why should I?"
"Your idea was rejected and your presentation was cut off," I explained.
"Noah," he mentioned my name, wrapped his hand around my shoulder.
"If I am tired and stop, how are we supposed to live? How are we gonna finance ourselves? If I am tired and stop, your mother will suffer. And if she suffers, we suffer more. Don't you love Mama?", he asked and I nodded my head.
"Life is limitless, Noah. Thus, take no risk. Rise above it. A man has to be fearless, so he can be the leader we all lean-to."

"Women has never been the weapon, Helena," I stated and left my assistant.
